A celebrity aviator

Earhart has been flying since the early 1920s but it was not until 1928 that she became a celebrity. This was the year when she became the first female aviator in the world to cross the Atlantic Ocean. After breaking this record, everyone in the world got to know her name.

Earhart went on to break other records over the following decade. She soon set out to become the first female aviator to complete a round-the-world flight. Earhart started to plot her route for this feat in 1936. She had no idea that it was going to be her last flight.
