San Marino
Another landlocked country on our list but this time, it is half the size of San Francisco. While not a great tourist location, it is yet another tax haven for the ultra-rich. The country’s most notable and exciting fact is that it claims to have more cars than people.
A somewhat random fact that doesn’t get us excited to pack our bags and head to San Marino. If you are looking for peace with nothing to do except sit in your hotel room and enjoy pretty views, go here. If not, skip it.
North Macedonia
With a population of 2 million, North Macedonia was once part of Yugoslavia. It gained freedom in 1991 but has spent most of this time in a period of extreme political upheaval, and of course, this means that Tourism hasn’t been high on the government’s priority list.
Among many lingering issues, corruption is enduring here. So when you aren’t dodging scams left and right, expect to be coughing throughout your vacation, as North Macedonia is one of the most polluted countries in Europe.
