Mike Jones is an American rapper.
His hit single ‘Still Tippin,’ which he released in 2004, made him a national celebrity. Jones then released “Back Then”, his second single. This reached number 22 on Billboard. His 2005 debut studio album, ‘Who Is Mike Jones?, featured singles ‘Still Tipin’ and ‘Back Then.
Early Life
Michael Allen Jones was born in Houston, Texas, on the 18th of November 1981.
Jones moved from school to school several times. This forced him to play in YMCA leagues only after he was in the ninth grade, because of transfer rules.
Jones was a Compaq worker and sold cell phones from his apartment on Antoine Drive. Jones’s partner in several ventures financial said that he sold “dime bags”, for six months.
Career
In 2001, Jones founded Ice Age Entertainment, an independent record company. Later, he signed to Swishahouse. Jones’ breakout hit single, “Still Tippin”, was released in 2004. He signed with Jive Records, Warner Bros.
He released his debut album, “Who Is Mike Jones?” in the following year. The album was certified double platinum. His single “My 64”, which he released in 2007, debuted at the top of the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles charts. He starred in the movie “American Dream” that he directed.
Jones’ second album, Voice, was released in 2009. It reached the 12th position on the Billboard 200 charts. Jones did not release any music or videos between 2010 and 2011 but later stated that he was having financial problems with Asylum Records.
Although he announced the completion of his new album, “Where is Mike Jones?” the album had not yet been released at the close of 2017.
Jones has collaborated many artists with him, including Slim Thug and Paul Wall, Snoop Dogg. T-Pain and Lil Wayne are among others. Twista, Gucci Mane is also a member of the Ying Yang Twins, Juvenile, Juvenile, as well as Pimp C.
