Jonathan Stephen Ross was conceived in St Pancras on the 17th of December 1960.
Ross was raised in Leytonstone. He is the brother of Paul Ross, the TV producer, and actors Miles Ross and Simon Ross.
Ross went to Norlington School for Boys and studied Modern European History in London at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies. This school is now part of University College London.
Career
Jonathan Ross began his career as a researcher on Channel 4’s show, ‘Loose Talk.’ It was a big hit. After that, he worked as a research assistant on the TV show ‘Soul Train. He made his first appearance on an episode British sitcom titled ‘It Ain’t Half Hot, Mom’.
Ross started presenting the documentary series “The Incredible Strange Film Show” back in 1988. It featured the works of many cult filmmakers, including Sam Raimi and Jackie Chan.
Ross started a chat show called “One Hour With Jonathan Ross” on Channel 4 in 1989. It featured “Knock Down Ginger”.
His biggest breakthrough came in 2000 and 1990 when he was appointed to replace Barry Norman as host of ‘The Film Programme’. This was in 1999. Ross joined BBC Radio 2 in 1999 as a presenter. It was a hugely popular program that became one of Britain’s most popular radio stations.
In 2006 Ross presented a trilogy on the film industry entitled “Jonathan Ross” and “Asia Invasion”, in which he introduced South Korea’s film industry to Japan, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Ross was named Britain’s highest-paid television personality the next year.
Since then, he has been busy hosting his chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show, which is also aired in Australia, Sweden, and New Zeeland.
