Kamaljit Singh Jhooti was born in London on 26 March 1981.
He was born in Southall, West London. He was eleven when he formed a hip-hop duo with his cousin called “Compulsive Disorder”. His stage name was “MC Nicky J”, the “J” being derived from the first letter of his last name “Jhooti”.
Jhooti was a student of Latymer Upper School. This is the same private school where Hugh Grant, Heston Blumenthal, and Lily Cole attended. In 1997, he left the school.
Career
His first taste of success was with “Dance with You”, which became a huge success. It reached the 12th position. This resulted in a record deal for Virgin Records under their Relentless Records label.
Sean left Virgin Records in 2006 and returned to music in 2007 with “Ride It”. He was nominated in several awards in 2009 and became the first South Asian-origin artist to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York since Freddie Mercury.
He has also been a part of the Justin Timberlake charity concert for Shriners Hospital for Children 2009 with such artists as Taylor Swift, and Alicia Keys.
