Early life
Jason Terrance Phillips was born in Yonkers, New York on the 27th of May 1975. He began selling drugs at the age of 12 after his parents requested that he earn his own money. Later, he began freestyle rapping to make money.
He began freestyling and met his long-time friends Styles P. Phillips and Sheek Louch. Phillips soon developed a small fanbase and entered a Florida freestyle contest at 12 years old. This attracted the attention and support of Ruff Ryders Entertainment.
Career
Jadakiss signed with Bad Boy to start his career. PuffDaddy changed the name to “The Lox” later.
They appeared on The Main Source’s 1994 album ‘Fuck What You Think.’ The group formed a close bond with B.I.G. and Jadakiss was particularly taken under his wing.
2001 was the year he started his solo career. Jadakiss also released his debut album ‘Kiss Tha game Goodbye’ in 2001. The album featured many guests and producers, including Eve, The Alchemist DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg, Eve, and Swizz Dogg. The album was extremely successful, selling more than 200,000 copies within its first week.
Jadakiss, his long-awaited and eagerly awaited third studio album, titled ‘The Last Kiss’, was released in 2009. The October 2008 release of the first single, “By My Side”, featuring Ne-Yo, was huge. Two additional singles featuring Lil Wayne, “Can’t Stop Me” & “Death Wish”, were released in 2009.
The Lox released their first album since 1996, entitled ‘Filthy America…It’s Beautiful’. The album had guest appearances by Fetty WAP, Mobb deep, and Gucci Mane and peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200.
