Early Life
Francisco Miguel Lindor was born in in Caguas, Puerto Rico on the 14th of November 1993.
Lindor started playing baseball as a child, with the help of his father who would hit him groundballs from the top hill, while the younger Lindor stood halfway down the slope trying to field them.
Lindor, his stepmother and youngest sibling moved to Central Florida when he was 12 years old. He enrolled at Montverde Academy prep school.
Career
Lindor was the Indians’ first-round selection and eighth overall pick in the MLB draft in 2011. He started his professional career in 2011 with the Short-Season A New York Penn League Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He played five games.
MLB.com rated Lindor the 32nd most promising prospect in baseball, before the 2012 season. He was assigned by the Lake County Captains in the Class A Midwest League to Lindor and selected to play in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game.
The Indians purchased Lindor’s contract from Columbus in June 2015 and added him on to the active roster. Before his promotion, Lindor batted.284 and had two home runs. He also had 22 RBIs in 59 games.
2017. Lindor was awarded his first career grand slam by the Texas Rangers. In winning 9-6, the Indians swept the season opener series. Lindor’s first career walk-off homer was in the 10th inning against the Toronto Blue Jays, which resulted in a 2-1 win.
Lindor won the AL Player of the Week Awards in the consecutive weeks of May 6th and 13th 2018. For the week ending May 6, he was leading MLB with 17 runs, 11 runs scored and 33 total bases.
