6 The Tick
Amazon started as an internet shopping site. But it has grown to be a major streaming platform. Amazon Video launched The Tick in 2016. It starred Peter Serafinowicz. Strangely, the show features a superhero wearing a blue tick suit fighting crime.
Although the series looks cheap, it was expensive to produce. Each episode cost $5 million. After the second season, Amazon pulled the plug on the series. Ben Edlund, the creator, tried to find a new network but to no avail.
5 The Big Bang Theory
AT&T bought Warner Bros Television back in 2007 and made a fortune when it piloted The Big Bang Theory. They didn’t realize that their series would make them and its parent network extremely rich.
Episode costs reached $7 million in the final season. $5 million went to the five main cast members, who earned $1 million for each episode. The show also produced a spinoff called Young Sheldon that premiered on CBS in 2017. It received generally positive reviews from viewers.
