Top 10 Celine Dion’s Incredible Life Facts

Celine Dion was born in Quebec on March 30, 1968. At just 12 years old, she started her music career. She had already performed as much as possible in the first ten of her ten years. In her native French, she released nine albums over the next six years. After a brief hiatus, she returned with the intention of entering the English-speaking market.

10 A Star Is Born

Celine Marie Claudette was born in Charlemagne Quebec, a village about 24 kilometers northeast of Montreal. She was the youngest of 14 children to Therese, a homemaker, as well Adhemar, a butcher. Music was already an important part of the Dion family before Celine arrived.

She was actually named after “Celine”, a song by French singer-songwriter Hugues Aufray that had been recorded two years prior to her birth. This song was one of Aufray’s most well-known and translated into English many years later.

9 The Victim Of Bullying

Celine had a difficult time in school in her younger years. She was bullied at school by her classmates and called a “vampire” because of her thin frame and the shape of her teeth. She would be referred to as a “Vampire” by her classmates. This was to be something that would follow her when she first became known for her music, with local tabloids dubbing her “Canine Dion.”

She ran home often from school to jam with her brothers and sister. Celine wrote later that she detested school in her autobiography. “I was surrounded by people and children who were older than I.” I got everything I needed from them. For me, real-life existed around them.”
