Vikings never wore horned helmets
We have always pictured our Vikings wearing a helmet with horns. Horned helmets seem to be the standard look for them. But the truth is, there has never been any evidence so far that the Vikings did wear this kind of helmet.

Vikings cared about their personal hygiene
If people were to picture a Viking, they would think of buff men who had long hair and beards, covered in filth. Basically, they think Vikings do not care for grooming or personal hygiene.
