Student Walked 14 Miles So He Would Not Be Late on His First Day on the Job

Twenty-year-old Walter Carr was excited to start his new job at Bellhops, a start-up moving company. Bellhop offered more rewards for its employees compared to his previous job where he worked as part of the crew of a fast food joint so he was excited.

In fact, Bellhops even allowed Walter to work on his own schedule – something that Walter really appreciated. So he wanted to make a good first impression. But on his first day of work, things started to fall apart.

His car broke down

In July 2018, a day before Walter was about to leave for his first shift at Bellhop, he found his car broke down again. Walter was starting his new job with zero savings – most of his money goes to rent and community college. It was impossible to get his car fixed.

Walter tried calling his friends, hoping to find someone who would be able to give him a ride the next day to work. But one by one, his friends had to say no to his request as they had other plans.
